Ad Brick Verdict is reader-supported: some store links are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. How we handle this

Privacy policy and cookies

Last updated 3 November 2026

Short version: we set no cookies of our own, show no ads from ad networks and never store your IP address in our database. When you click a store link we count the click without being able to tie it to you.

What we process and why

1. Hosting and security

The site is delivered by Cloudflare (Pages and Workers). To serve pages and protect them from abuse, Cloudflare processes technical data about each request, including IP address, browser and the page requested. We do not store this data ourselves.

Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in keeping the site available and secure. Retention: according to Cloudflare's log retention.

2. Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It counts page views without cookies, without fingerprinting and without following you across sites. We only see aggregated figures, such as visits per page and country.

Legal basis: legitimate interest in knowing which content is useful.

3. Store link clicks (click logging)

Links to stores go through addresses starting with thebrickverdict.com/go/. When you click one we store a row with:

We do not store your IP address, browser, cookies or any identifier that can be linked to you. The purpose is to count clicks per link and video, reconcile commission with the affiliate networks' reports, and understand which content helps readers.

Legal basis: legitimate interest. Retention: at most 24 months.

4. When you email us

We process your email address, your name if you give it, and the content of your message in order to reply. Legal basis: legitimate interest in answering questions. Retention: while the conversation is ongoing and then at most 24 months, unless the law requires us to keep it longer (e.g. bookkeeping for partnerships).

5. Stores and affiliate networks

When you arrive at a store through an affiliate link, the store and the affiliate network (e.g. Adtraction, Awin, Rakuten or Amazon) may set their own cookies to record that the purchase came through us. They are independent controllers and their privacy policies apply. We only receive reports that a purchase happened, the order value, the commission and the code we passed along ourselves (e.g. a video id) – never your name, address or what you bought beyond that.

6. YouTube

Video preview images are loaded from YouTube (i.ytimg.com, Google), which means Google receives your IP address, as with any image loaded from another server. Videos only play on YouTube after you click, where Google's terms apply.

Cookies

Brick Verdict sets no cookies of its own and uses no tracking or advertising cookies, which is why we show no cookie banner. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie to stop bot traffic; such cookies do not require consent. Cookies set by stores after you leave this site are governed by their terms.

Processors and transfers outside the EU

Cloudflare, Inc. is our processor for hosting, analytics and the database that holds click rows. Cloudflare is a US company; transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

You have the right to request access to, correction or erasure of your personal data, to request restriction, to object to processing based on legitimate interest and, in some cases, to data portability. Email [email protected]. Note that click rows contain nothing that would let us find your clicks specifically.

You can complain to the Swedish data protection authority, Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY), or the authority in your own EU country.

Children

Brick Verdict gives buying advice to adults and is not directed at children under 13.
